Atlantic Gold Corporation is developing the 2mtpa Touquoy open pit gold mine and on-site processing plant in central Nova Scotia as part of the Moose River Consolidated Mine. We are currently seeking a qualified person for the role of a Buyer. This position is based at the Touquoy mine site located approximately 1hour northeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia.Work at one of the best new mines in North America, while living in a city regularly rated as one of the most livable in Canada.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Identify safety issues and encourage a site safe work culture with safety being top priority
  • Apply all applicable regulations, codes and corporate/site standards

  • Assist the Supply Chain Supervisor with maintaining proper inventory levels of materials used on a regular basis.
  • Work with the inventory management team to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders and report any back-ordered or missing products.
  • Responsible for sourcing and ordering all Direct Charge items for Touquoy Mine prioritizing with Operations and Maintenance to ensure parts are on site in a timely manner.
  • Embed primarily in Mobile/Fixed Plant Maintenance and Operations with a direct relationship with Planners from every department to ensure End User requirements are met in relation to Work Orders.  
  • Expedite orders on a regular basis by liaising with Vendors and end users.
  • Assist with the creation of Purchasing Contracts and Fixed Price Agreements when requested.
  • Work closely with Vendors to ensure that approved PO’s are sent out in a timely manner for goods and services.
  • Ensure strong communication within the company
  • Perform other duties as assigned.      

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience:

  • Ability to work with diverse personalities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Relevant post-secondary diploma or related experience
  • Deep understanding and professional experience with Purchasing processes
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills and experience
  • Good Experience with ERP System functionality
  • Experience in Warehousing and Inventory Management is an strong asset
  • Experience with Inventory modules is an asset
  • Experience in an industrial environment is an asset
  • Well organized, team player
  • Ability to work independently is a key skill
  • Problem identification and solving capabilities
  • Organization, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and meeting deadlines is required.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
